Zoom Walkthrough Demo call How-To Guide

Opening Zoom to join a meeting

First, a link to your Wallstreet.io Walkthrough Zoom meeting will be sent to you via email.

At the time of your meeting, click the link and you should see the following pop-up. Click the Open zoom.us button:

  • Note: if Zoom is not already installed on your computer, the message may ask you to install and run Zoom before it asks you to open Zoom.
  • Once Zoom opens, you will see one of the following two messages depending on whether you’ve entered before the meeting host has started the meeting, or before the meeting host has admitted you to the meeting.

Testing your computer audio & microphone

You can test your computer audio and microphone while you wait by clicking the Test button at the bottom of either of the Wait messages (pictured on the previous page).

    Joining a Zoom meeting

Once the host has admitted you to the meeting, you will see this window pop up.

Click the Join With Computer Audio button.

If you’ve never entered a Zoom meeting before, you may get a message asking you to enter your name. Do so and then click the Join Meeting button:

If you are using a PC, you may get a message asking you whether or not you want to allow Zoom to communicate on your home network. Check Private networks and then click Allow access.

    Enabling your computer microphone

You will not need a video camera for the meeting, but you will need a microphone.

If you do not have a microphone in your computer, I can always call you and we can still use Zoom for the video onscreen demo.

If Zoom asks for access to your microphone, use the following steps to enable Zoom to use your computer microphone. Click the Go To Settings button to open the Security & Privacy settings window.

Select Microphone from the left side. Click the checkbox next to zoom.us on the right side.

Zoom will need to close & reopen to enable the new setting.

Click the Quit Now button to close Zoom.

    Click the Leave Meeting button.

Once Zoom has closed down, you will reopen Zoom using the same link you used prior to closing (located in your appointment invitation email).

Recording your walkthrough session to your computer

On the Zoom toolbar (should be at the bottom or top of your Zoom window), click the Record button.

This will send a request to the host to allow you to record the session. The host will grant you access to record the session to your computer. Click Record again after this is done to start recording.

The Record button will change to a combo of two buttons: Pause & Stop Recording.

When your session/meeting ends, click the Stop Recording button.

By default, Zoom will want to save your recording to your Documents folder but you can always change it to another folder, or your Desktop, to make it easy to find. Click OK to have the Zoom recording saved to your Documents folder:

Or, to save to your Desktop, click the drop-down menu:

Then select Choose a new location:

Then click Desktop, and the Choose button.

The Save location should now show Desktop at the end of the directory path. Click the Save button.

And click OK to allow Zoom to save the recording to your Desktop.

Once it’s finished, you should have a new folder on your Desktop with a file name starting with today’s date. Open the folder either by double-clicking it, or expanding it within the Desktop folder. The file with the .mp4 extension is your video of the meeting.

If you saved to your Documents folder, open any folder and click Documents on the left.

On the right, expand the Zoom folder, and then the subfolder underneath. The file with the .mp4 extension is your video of the meeting.

Sharing your screen with the host of the meeting

You may share your screen in order to show something on your computer screen to your host.

To do this, click the Share Screen button.

If the host is still sharing their screen, you will get this message and need to wait for the host to stop sharing their screen before you can share yours.

Your screen will look similar to this screen shot once the host has stopped sharing their screen.

    Click the Share Screen option.

Select your Desktop, or the monitor you want to share if you have 2 monitors, and then click Share.

If you have never shared your screen on a Zoom meeting before, you may see this message indicating you need to give Zoom permission to access your screen. Click the Open System Preferences button.

The Security & Privacy window will open, with the Privacy section showing.

Screen Recording should be selected on the left panel.

Click the checkbox in front of zoom.us.

You will be asked to exit Zoom in order for the setting to be complete. Click the Quit Now button.

Then click the Leave Meeting button:

To re-open the Zoom meeting, return to your email invitation with the Zoom meeting link, and click the link again to restart the Zoom meeting:

Once Zoom opens, click the Share Screen button and select your Desktop or the monitor you wish to share with the meeting host:

Finally, to stop sharing your screen, click the Stop Share button:
